Our Vision
We want to become an eco-friendly company that puts the environment first, fulfills its social responsibilities and creates sustainable values in business activities. To this end, we have established an ESG Vision: “We CHARGE toward a better future”. We have selected 8 critical areas relating to the environment, human rights, safety and society. In addition, we promote four key areas: climate action, recycling cycle, human capital and responsible supply chain management.
By 2030, we plan to convert 100% of the company’s energy into renewable energy. How do we do it? Here are some of our actions.
Climate Action
Expanding renewable energy
We constantly pursue efforts, such as improving energy efficiency and expanding renewable energy in response to climate change. In order to create a sustainable future, we aim to minimize greenhouse gas emissions in the battery manufacturing process.
LG Energy Solution is the first worldwide battery manufacturer to join the RE100 and EV100 initiatives. We aim to complete a 100% transition to renewable energy by 2030 in existing and future production facilities. Within the same year, we will convert 100% of company vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes and 50% of vehicles weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes to environmentally friendly vehicles.
RE100
RE100 is the global corporate initiative for renewable energy. In particular, it brings together hundreds of large companies committed to converting 100% of business electricity to renewable sources in the coming years. The date set for the complete conversion is 2050.
The initiative is led by the Climate Group, in collaboration with CDP. Its mission is to accelerate the shift towards large-scale zero-carbon grids.
EV100
EV100 is the other global initiative organized by the Climate Group. It brings together forward-thinking companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The goal is to make electric transport the new business normal by 2030.
More than 120 of global companies are shifting their fleets to electric vehicles, installing recharging such vehicles for staff and customers by 2030.
Responsible management of the supply chain
In 2016, we established a code of conduct for suppliers in order to create a sustainable supply chain. It consists of human and labor rights legislation, environmental sustainability and responsible mineral sourcing.
From the supplier selection stage, we apply the code to verify the adequacy of their supply chain management system. Furthermore, we effectively supervise supply chain risks by monitoring the sustainability of their management.

Virtuous cycle of resources
With the growth of electric vehicles, millions of tons of batteries are used every year, increasing the number of batteries used. At the company level, we are therefore developing ways to reuse these batteries for ESS. To minimize environmental contamination and create a closed loop of resources, we want to recycle waste from the production of batteries, through numerous research and collaborations.
